How MassUpdater Works for You: Build a Web Page in MassUpdater (part 1)

Posted by admin on February 19th, 2010 and filed under photography web site templates | No Comments »

One of our Lead Programmers shows how easy it is to use this smart software.

Introducing DaShan Thomas, one of 2 Lead Programmers for MassUpdater 1.5, where you can build websites as well as update them.

You can also add Mouseover Effects, you can drop Flash Video, Flash Ads and Flash Music. And, you can drop 4 different sized YouTube videos, plus you can even add Photo Galleries — all in one program!

In this video series, DaShan Thomas will show you how to build a website the MassUpdater way.

You can build a website in MassUpdater as easily as you would draw it on a dry erase board!

First, log into your copy of MassUpdater. Type in your username and password, then click “continue” when your License is validated.

DaShan Thomas shows you how quickly you can switch between pages to create and edit in MassUpdater — move from your home page to an about us page and back again instantly! No waiting for load times here! This speed allows you to copy content from one page to another with ease.

As an example, DaShan Thomas will build a real estate website in MassUpdater, as easily as it was drawn on the dry erase board. It’s a nice, clean, attractive & professional website, and can be built by anyone regardless of technical ability.

Starting with a blank page, DaShan Thomas clicks “Advanced Web Builders.” He explains that Advanced Web Builders are not intimidating or difficult to master. They are advanced purely because they are used to build websites, and are accessible to all levels of skill.

DaShan starts by taking a quick tour through the options in Advanced Web Builders: Site Backgrounds, Page Backgrounds, Page Boxes, Web Photos, Web Navigation, Headers & Lines, Web Buttons, Ad Boxes & Text Gifs, and Photo Gallery.

Then, he takes the viewer through the left-hand navigation: Bold, Italic, Underline, Left justify, Center justify, Right justify, Ordered Lists, Unordered Lists, Colors, Images, Links, Mouseover Effects, Anchors, Basic Horizontal Lines, Icons, Buttons, Flash, Files (to store Acrobat Reader files, also know as .pdfs, often used for Newsletters and Printable pages), Templates, Advanced Web Builders, and the 4 different zoom buttons, allowing you to see the site close up or to fit the entire page into your editable box.

One of the ways in which MassUpdater differs from other Content Management Systems (CMS), is that it has galleries to the top and bottom of the screen. The software was built by programmers who had been web developers for over a decade, who learned what website owners need to make maintaining their sites *easy*. Having all content easily handy from the same screen makes the entire business of the website easy for the end user and web developer.

Clicking the Photo button on the left hand interface opens the image gallery at the bottom. These images can be used throughout your site, and can be made into links.

Clicking the Flash Button opens all your Flash Galleries at the bottom so that you can embed different types of Flash animation, Flash sound, etc, quickly and easily.

Clicking Templates allows you to add different box templates to help you lay out your website with more uniformity, to create an attractive and consistent look.

To begin designing, DaShan Thomas clicks Advanced Web Builder, and then Site Backgrounds. He then chooses the background he wants to use. He places his cursor in the main editing box, and then clicks the “no repeat” button, because he wants this image to appear in the background, and not repeat either to the left or down. DaShan Thomas explains that you have several options here: you can have your background appear once, or tile to the right and down, or tile down, or tile to the left. He chooses the option that does not tile to the right or down, but just appears once.

You can upload site backgrounds into this and all your galleries easily. You can also delete anything in these galleries quickly. You don’t need an FTP program, it all works within MassUpdater.

View the entire video series to learn more about how easy it is to build and maintain a website with MassUpdater!

How MassUpdater Works for You: Build a Web Page in MassUpdater (part 3)

Posted by admin on February 6th, 2010 and filed under photography web site templates | No Comments »

This segment shows how easy it is to copy from page to page. This vid also shows how to drop a photo gallery, and where to edit the gallery.

DaShan Thomas continues the Build a Web Page in MassUpdater video series, showing how easy it is to build an entire website in MassUpdater, to create MouseOver Effects, and how to drop a photo gallery into your website with MassUpdater!

MouseOver Effects with MassUpdater website updating software is easy! DaShan Thomas shows how, by first clicking the MouseOver button on the left hand navigation (it’s the button that looks like a Mouse).

He chooses his first color (the color that the text will appear prior to a mouse rolling over it). Since he is working with a website that uses lots of shades of brown, he chooses a shade of brown.

Next, he can choose to make the initial text (again, the text as it will appear when the mouse is not over it), bold, italic or underlined — or all three. He chooses to make the text bold, and then clicks “next.”

Then, he chooses a color that is different (for the MouseOver Effect that will occur when the mouse rolls over the text), but still fitting with the overall color scheme of the website. To make a big impact, he chooses a green.

Next, he can choose to make the text during the rollover bold, italic, or underlined — or all three. For consistency, he chooses bold again, and adds underline for added effect.

He can also add a link at this point, and types it into “Add a link” field. He clicks the radio button under this field that causes the link in the MouseOver effect to open the link in a new window when clicked.

Then, he clicks “Next” and arrives in the MouseOver gallery. This gallery stores every MouseOver effect that you’ve made, so that you can reuse them with different text as many times as you like. You can roll over the text to see the effect, and you can roll over the “use” button underneath to see if there is a link associated with the MouseOver. To use the Mouseover Effect, DaShan Thomas simply highlights the text he wishes to use and then clicks “Use”.

Also in this video, DaShan Thomas shows how to add a Photo Gallery to your website using MassUpdater software.

He clicks Templates so that he can pick out a handy bounding-box to place the Photo Gallery in. The bounding box makes moving elements around a website easier to deal with, because you can simply drag, delete, or move the box itself, and what you do to the box will be done to all of its contents. DaShan points out that the dotted lines around the border of these boxes disappear on the actual site — they are only there inside of MassUpdater, to help make laying out a website simple & easy. You can adjust the size of these boxes by clicking on the edges and corners with your mouse, and dragging them in any direction.

Now, DaShan Thomas clicks the Advanced Web Builders button, and then the Photo Gallery button. He shows how the bottom button, which reads “Edit”, allows you to view all the photos in your gallery. Here, you can upload new photos or delete existing photos.

Then, he puts his cursor in the bounding box, and clicks the Photo Gallery button. Instantly, the photo gallery has been added to the website.
