    If I purchased a flash website template, how easy would it be to customize with basic flash knowledge?

    Posted by admin on March 11th, 2010 and filed under flash website templates | 1 Comment »

    I’m looking to purchase a flash website template (non-exclusively). If I were to buy this template, how difficult would it be for me to incorporate my own images / info into the site and fully customize it? I have graphic design skills, so that wouldn’t be a problem – It’s just that I have very basic flash knowledge

    The template I’m considering can be found here:

    Thanks!

    It will be pretty hard. I too had to customize a template monster flash template for a client and I found it a hard task. Their .fla’s incorporate a lot of actionscript and everything is fixed. So you have to make your content fit the page and not the other way around. I’m a programmer/designer but I had to ask for help from my partner who’s more skilled in Flash.

    My 2 cents.

    Regards

    how to create a photography site on dreamweaver cs3?

    Posted by admin on March 11th, 2010 and filed under photography website template | 3 Comments »

    I just recently got Adobe Dreamweaver cs3 and i need to make a website for my photography business including a photogallery (preferably flash) but i have no idea where to start, ive been looking for free templates and found some that are okay looking but non flash, and they do not include a photogallery. So is there a way to add a gallery and would i need another program like flash. And if i wanted to have the whole site flash, could i do it in dreamweaver as well? if so, where could i find a free flash template to work off of.
    ive tried looking into some people building one but its been wayyy too expensive, but ill try the sites that was given! and im gonna go with you pete h, and stay away from the flash. i want to try finding a pre made template and modifying it, but i haven’t came across one that had a good look.

    *all i want is a simple home page with an about us,contact,and a portfolio link and the portfolio to have like 3 seperate groups for albums(weddings,people,children.etc)
    Nothing too complicated, just a really simple smooth look, that doesn’t look amateur.

    ^and i would also need to know how to upload and manage the pictures.. cuz i have no idea where to begin

    any suggestions?! i have about a week or so..
    and i dont wanna pay for something that i could maybe do myself.

    Yikes…whole site as flash? That is an accessibility nightmare..

    Granted, you probably don’t have to worry about blind people coming to a photography site, but you definately don’t want to exclude the people who disable flash (IE disables it by default).

    As a professional designer, I spend a lot of my time talking about the cons of using flash in a webpage…

    Anyway…

    Templates are your friend. There are some scripts out there for photo galleries that will help, but to be honest, a photography site should also have a content management system involved, if you plan to update it more than weekly.

    Depending on where your site is hosted, you might have some content management systems pre-loaded in your control panel.

    If you have no experience designing a site though, you might very well be in over your head. If you have a lot of time to get it up and running, buy a dreamweaver book or two (lynda.com’s Hand’s On Training by Chow is a great starter book, and it will introduce you to CSS, a crucial aspect of contemporary web design).

    If you want it up asap though…you should consider hiring a pro. Getting a CMS is one thing, customizing it is an entirely different ballpark. If you are doing this for professional purposes, finding a professional is what you want to do. Your Dreamweaver purchase will not be for nothing though…as you can at least be your own webmaster.

    Try freelance finder sites like guru.com, elance.com and rentacoder.com to get bids on a job.

    need simple help for web page can anyone talk to me?

    Posted by admin on March 11th, 2010 and filed under web page templates | 3 Comments »

    I am having trouble making a simple web page. I dont understand how to use a web page template. Im basically just looking for a simple black or green background that I can write on for starters.

    Whenever I download a template I get a folder with a bunch of files and images I dont know what to do with can anyone help?

    The folder contain the files that make up the web template. You will need to open the index.html file in a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver or Frontpage to make changes to it.

    If you want it to be really simple, like having nothing but white text on a black background, you can just fire up a text editor like Notepad and type this:

    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="black">
    <font color="white">
    INSERT YOUR TEXT HERE.
    </body>
    </html>

    Since you already downloaded the template, your best bet is to go in Frontpage, Dreamweaver, or any of the free WYSIWYG web site editors floating around, and change it.

    Contact me through derekconjar.com if you need more help, or want me to do it for you.

    Edit: The post above me advised you to use a style sheet with the HTML. It’s always a good thing, but you don’t have to if your site is as simple as you make it sound. If you already have a web template, you might as well not even worry about that and just edit the template.

    Where can I find free (or cheap) website templates?

    Posted by admin on March 11th, 2010 and filed under professional website templates | 3 Comments »

    Heres my criteria:

    - Professional Grade (this is for a startup business)
    - Something I can tweak and enhance if I need to. I’m good with html, javascript and and ok with css, but flash development is past me.
    - No add banners, footers etc.
    - I also need a logo, but dont have a whole lot of money to commit to that either.

    Can you help?
    Thanks!

    Try any of these sites. There are also others. Do a google search on free web site templates.

    Website Template questions/help needed?

    Posted by admin on March 9th, 2010 and filed under photo website templates | 2 Comments »

    We bought a website, adobe photo shop / adobe flash 8 .

    How do we edit it ? What software would be required for this ?

    Any idea where we could find someone to assist ? Not sure where to post for help ? Craigslist ?

    Where do folks look for misc. jobs such as this ?
    Yes, we just purchased it. It will need to be edited right now , to add contact information, the built in form needs to get directed / routed to our email address. we need a couple paragraphs of text inserted into the about us portion. maybe another form added. i need a blank page added to it , that will be used for future growth. this is part I of project.

    future project II will be to build a shopping cart .

    My email is

    Chancemybowser@yahoo.com

    if anyone has additional questions or by "chance" might be interested in helping out.

    did u just purchsed a template? what kind of changes you want to make to it? One time or you need regular support on it? You need to be clear about what u need before u go hunting.
